It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Pius Patrick Keough at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Thursday, February 13, 2020 with his loving family by his side. Born on May 13, 1957 in Sydney, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Joseph and Annie Mae (MacNeil) Keough. Pius worked many years at the Sydney Steel Plant and later as a burner mechanic. Pius had a very kind heart and sweet nature and would do anything for anyone. He was always willing to help someone in need. He was proud to be Mr. Fix-it, as there was nothing he couldn’t fix right again. Pius had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed sharing many stories over hot cups of tea. He loved watching old movies and reading a good mystery. Pius is survived by his brother Sandy (Shirley) Keough, Halifax; Sisters; Sharon (Earl) Covin, Halifax, Margaret (Frank) Horyl, River Ryan, Mary (Jamie) Mansfield, Milton. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his best friend Mohamed Ammari. A special thank you to the staff at the emergency department and ICU Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their compassion and care. Special thanks also to his good friend Pat Power and to his extended next-door family, Krista and Dana. Cremation has taken place. As per Pius’ wishes, there will be a family burial at a later date. Donations to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
