Patricia "Pat" E. Barnes, 93, of Meadville, passed over to a new journey of afterlife on February 13, 2020, in the company of loving family and the comforting and compassionate staff of Hospice of Crawford County. Pat was born at Bradford Hospital in Bradford, PA, on August 17, 1926 to her parents James and Helen (Ryan) Bowler. She enjoyed a happy and adventurous childhood in Bradford until she and her family moved to Meadville in April, 1942. Pat married her beloved husband, George, on April 27, 1946 at St. Brigid Church in Meadville. Together they danced and laughed their way through nearly 64 years of marriage, until George's passing on January 1, 2010. Pat's first job was at the former Talon, Inc. and later sold insurance for Patron's Mutual and worked the counter at the former Quaker Cleaners on North Street. She retired from St. Brigid Church rectory after 25 years. She welcomed many young priests as they started their vocation at St. Brigid's. Pat was an election committee official and volunteered at the polls from the early 1980's until 2006. Pat was very devout in her Catholic faith, knowledgeable in her politics and so very proud of her Irish heritage, having kept an extensive written history of her Irish ancestors. Her greatest pride was her family. The three children she raised and her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren all loved their Mother and "Gram". She was kind and generous to her friends and was always there to help any human or furry beings. No stray cat or dog went hungry in her neighborhood. Pat is survived by her daughter Barbara Laderer and son Bill Barnes, both of Meadville; grandchildren Curtis Stallard and Brian Stallard (Susie) both of Erie, Jason Laderer of Meadville, Alicia Laderer of Rockaway, NJ, Brett Barnes (Lauren) of Centennial, CO, Kelsey Cole (Thomas) of Bellevue; great grandchildren Avery and Greyson Alber, Elliotte and Miles Barnes, Jenna and Marissa Stallard; also sons in law Jay Laderer, Rich Stoyer and daughter in law Sue Barnes. She is further survived by so many cousins all of whom she was proud to call her family. In addition to her husband, George, Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sue Stoyer, sons in law Jack Stallard, Gary Vogan, Sr., her brother Richard and sister Mary Louise. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 AM on Monday, February 17, 2020, at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Fr. Jeffrey Lucas, Pastor, officiating. Pat will be laid to rest in St. Brigid Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Pat's memory to Marquette Hospice House C/O Hospice of Crawford County, 766 Liberty St., or Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, both in Meadville, PA 16335.
