Donothan “Don” Craig Clay, 66, of Tega Cay, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Piedmont Medical Center. He was born July 23, 1953 in Cedartown, GA, son of the late Virgil and Ruth Patterson Clay. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Vanessa Clay; sister, Dolleen Carter; and brother, Douglas Clay. Don retired from General Motors after 30 years of dedicated service. An outdoorsman by nature, he enjoyed fishing, the ocean, gardening and working in his yard. Don was a wonderful and beloved husband and a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathryn “Kathy” Clay; daughters, Erica Clay Crawford and husband, Ian of Fort Wayne, IN, Bridget Clay of Rock Hill and Veronica Clay of Charleston; son, Jared Clay of Tega Cay; four grandchildren, Emma Clay, Lucas Crawford, Zeke Crawford and Zoey Crawford; sister, Delilah Hindmon and husband, James of Blue Ridge, GA; brothers, Danny Clay and wife, Anne of White, GA and David Clay and wife, Ruthie of Centre, AL; many nieces and nephews; and close friend, Robert Persinger. The family will receive friends and celebrate Don’s life with a floating visitation from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2020 at the home of Don and Kathy Clay.
