The Life Llewellyn V. Byris, of Dover, Delaware, departed this life on Friday, February 14, 2020, 4:00 AM, at home, while holding the hand of his loving mother. Llewellyn was born Sunday, October 15, 1950, in Ridgely, Maryland, son of Doretha Byris Davis and the late Verdaine Griffin, who preceded him in death. Llewellyn attended Caroline County Public Schools - Ridgely Elementary School in his early years and graduated from North Caroline High School. After graduating high school, Llewellyn enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after 6 years. After departing the military, Llewellyn successfully gained employment at General Foods and Proctor and Gamble, until his health began to fail. Affectionately known to his friends and family as “Lew”, and affectionately known to his little sisters as “Big Brother,” Llewellyn was a quiet and passionate person. He enjoyed sports and was a true Philadelphia Eagles fan. Our dear Llewellyn will truly be missed, but he is now with his dear cousin, Larry Byris and his grandson, Julius Johnson, who preceded him in death. Llewellyn leaves to cherish his memory, fiancée, Catherine Brinkley; two children, Charlene Green and Brie Alston (Joe); five stepchildren, James Harmon, Valerie Heath (Rondrell), John Waters, Keith Waters and Pamelia May (Bryan); 23 grandchildren, Jamie, Audrianna, Alex, Jeremy, Joliwah, Chris, Shateama, James, Jayzhia, Robert, Quenisha, Christopher, John III, Keith, Tyree, Malik, DeAttra, Tasha, Kiana, Jeremy, Jawan, Destini and Alexia; a host of great grandchildren; two devoted parents, Charles and Doretha Davis; one brother, Lawrence Griffin; three devoted sisters, Vonnie Griffin, Rachel Davis-Dorsey and Paula Davis-Jackson; one brother- in- law, Alvin Jackson, Jr; one special uncle, Gerald Griffin (Edna); three special nephews, Alvin III, Martin Jr. and Tyrel; eight nieces, Erica, Elexis, Akira, Vanessa, Michaela, Geneva, Olivia and Rebecca; and a host of cousins and friends.
