Afra E. “Betty” Yaworski, 100, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Bethany Gardens. Born in Lee Center on January 6, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Afra (Smith) Morat. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On June 2, 1938 she was united in marriage to Harris B. Swancott. He passed away in 1974. She later married Joseph P. Yaworski and they were together until his passing in 1997. Betty was a member of the Lee Center United Methodist Church and she was very active in the community. She belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 590, Red Hat Society and Ava Dorfman Senior Center. She is survived by two sons, Wayne Swancott, Sr. and Gary (Valerie) Swancott; twelve grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Brian Swancott; two daughters-in-law, Charlotte and Donna; and two brothers, Stanley and Darrell Morat. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 16th at 4:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in the spring. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service from 1-4:00 p.m.
