Verna Coyle Hurt Obituary

Verna Coyle Hurt, 89, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2020 at The Terrace in Berea. Verna was born December 14, 1930 in Estill County. She is the daughter of the late Wilce Coyle and Amanda Logsdon Coyle. She was a retired grocery owner and operator and also worked for Westinghouse Corporation. She was a long-time, faithful member of the Lexington Road Church of God. Her devotion to God and church inspired her entire family. Five of her children and grandchildren are in Christian ministry. Verna loved God and her family and she had many friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, James Edward “Virgil”Hurt and a grandson, William Patrick “Will” Hurt. She is survived by sons, Ray and wife Carolyn Hurt of Princeton, WV, James Mikal Hurt and wife Sharnell of Richmond and Virgil Kevin Hurt of Richmond; six grandchildren, Lt. Colonel Jonathan Hurt and wife Heather of Washington D.C., Reverend James Bradford “J.B.” Hurt and wife Dana of Princeton, WV, Reverend Amanda Arnett and husband Brian of Clarksburg, WV, Stanton Mikal Hurt and wife Megan of Richmond, Christopher James “C.J.” Hurt and wife Heather of Farragut, TN, Wesley Cameron Paul Hurt of Richmond; thirteen great grandchildren; her sister, Imogene Richardson of Vandalia, OH and a host of nieces and nephews. A funeral service to celebrate Verna's life will be held at 5:30 PM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Combs, Parsons & Collins Funeral Home with Dr. Ray Hurt officiating and Reverend Chad Lainhart assisting. The graveside service will be private. Visitation will begin at 3:00 PM Saturday.
