George Granville Scherich, 61 of Follansbee, WV, formerly of Wellsburg, WV, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Weirton Medical Center, Weirton, WV. George was born on February 2, 1959 in Wheeling, WV. He was the son of the late Earl Scherich and Carole “Sis” (Atwell) Scherich. George was the owner and operator of his construction company. He was a member of Williams Country Club where he loved playing golf with his friends. Many will remember George for his smile and personality; but most of all, for his time spent cutting grass and remodeling at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV and his family growing up in the Beech Bottom Community Christian Church. George is survived by his companion, Lisa Butler, three siblings, Carol Yahrling and her husband, Keith, John Scherich and his wife, Veronica and Earl Scherich and his wife, Martha, all of Wellsburg, WV, two children, Leah and Jim, four granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 16, 2020 from 6:00-8:00 PM and again on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at the James Funeral Home, Follansbee, WV (304)527-1717 with Reverend Daniel Harry, officiating.
