DARTMOUTH-Antonio S. Pereira, 87, of Dartmouth, formerly of Weaver Street, New Bedford, died Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth following a lengthy period of declining health. He was the widower of Maria (Faria) Pereira and son of the late Jose Sebastiao Pereira and Augusta (Fernandes) Pereira. Born in Madeira Island, he resided in New Bedford for more than 30 years before becoming a resident at Brandon Woods for the past 13 years. Mr. Pereira was employed as a packer at Columbia Electronics until his retirement in 1995. He was a parishioner of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church and was a member of Clube Madeirense SS Sacramento and assisted with the annual feast. In his leisure time, he enjoyed gardening. His family includes 1 brother, Alberto Pereira of South Africa; 1 sister, Augusta Pereira of Madeira Island; several nieces and nephews, including Alexandra Brito and her husband, Martin of Dartmouth and Maria Alves and her husband, Manuel of New Bedford; several great-nieces and great-nephews including Allison Brito of New York. He was the brother of the late Jose Pereira, Celeste Pereira, Natalia Pereira and Maria da Conceicao Pereira. Visiting hours in the funeral home Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. His funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 8:00 A.M. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated in Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church at 9:00 A.M.
