Katie Burke Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Katie Burke announces her passing after a 20 year battle with pancreatitis which culminated in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in September. Katie was born into eternal life on Monday, February 10th. A family friend said he was sure “Katie burst into glory on her new birthday”. She will forever be fondly remembered by her adoring son Michael, her caring daughter Jaye (Lou), dedicated sisters Laura and Beth, loving brother-in-law Joe , affectionate niece and nephews Hunter, Olivia, and Carson, her adorable granddaughter Aribella, numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and an abundance of supportive loving friends. Katie was preceded in death by her father James Burke and her mother Mary (nee Sheridan). Katie was born in Chicago, but soon moved to the growing suburb of Bolingbrook where she spent her young years. The family then moved to Lisle where Katie continued her education through high school. Katie’s career path has been varied; running the gamut from sign language interpreter, to travel agent, to personal trainer. She had an amazing smile, a contagious laugh, and an unparalleled spirit. Katie was truly the life of the party. She enjoyed subtle things such as the beauty of nature and playing a game with little ones, to the ruckus of riding Harleys, and dancing the night away watching her favorite bands. Katie had a heart of gold as many friends have said and would find laughter in any situation. She would never judge and loved unconditionally. She was truly a light in all our lives. On Saturday, February 15, 2020, family and friends will gather to accept condolences, share some favorite memories and celebrate Katie’s life, beginning with an open house at Care Cremation Center, 515 Anderson Drive, Suites 100-200, Romeoville from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Please help us continue Katie’s Life Celebration with food and drinks at Illinois Bar and Grill, 1131 State Street, Lemont, IL from 4:30-7:00 p.m.
