Thomas R. Bridges Obituary

Tom was kind, caring, compassionate and fun to be around. As a child, Tom grew up on White Bear Lake. He developed strong love of sailing after his father purchased the family Butterfly Sailboat. It was 16 feet of pure fun! He sailed with the White Bear Yacht Club in many regattas and won several awards. His biggest love was being a crew member on a 28-foot E Boat! Tom also loved the mountains. He enjoyed snow skiing and became a part of the National Ski Patrol in Vail, Colorado. He shared his love of the mountains and lakes with his children, Scott and Emily, on family vacations out west. Tom spent many summer days at his mother’s family farm in Jackson, MN. His favorite time of the day was in the evening after the chores were done and the cool breezes would come in. he would sit around the dining room table with his grandparents, while eating a big bowl of popcorn or root beer floats. He returned to the farm on many occasions with his family to celebrate Kielblock birthdays, graduations, weddings, reunions, picnics and funerals. Tom has two children. His son, Scott, lives in Bozeman, MT with Kris and their 3 children- Garrett (16), Zachary (6), and Arianna (3). The family came to stay for a visit with Tom in June. He enjoyed watching them play happily in the water, fishing and boating. His daughter, Emily, lives in the cities. She is a devoted and loving daughter. Tom loved to play his guitar. He would strum around the bonfire, or at bedtime with his children, making up silly verses to his favorite fold songs. Tom was always happy to lend a hand. Whether it was tinkering with cars or bicycles, fixing a loose wire or pulling out a dock on the lake. Our lives have been so enriched by Tom. Simple pleasures included popsicles, playing with cats, predicting the weather, listening to the Twins game on the radio, sunrises and sunsets and being with his family. Tom is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Arlene and nephew, Todd Leick. Tom is survived by his children, Scott (Kris) and Emily; grandchildren, Garrett, Zachary and Arianna; sister, Kathy (Rodney) Leick; brothers, David (Romona), Paul (Cathy) and Steve (Teresa); stepmother, Dolly; former spouses, Yvonne and Jodee and nieces and nephews, Michelle, David, Heather, Mary and Jennifer.
