Genevieve Massicotte Obituary

Naugatuck, CT Genevieve Massicotte, 98, the widow of William E. Massicotte, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2017. Genevieve was born on April 2, 1918 in Naugatuck, CT a daughter of the late Anthony and Helena (Dervis) Bekerowski and had lived in Naugatuck most of her life. She was a retired employee of the footwear division of Uniroyal, Inc. and was a parishioner of St. Hedwig’s Church. Genevieve is survived by her sons, Robert Massicotte and his wife Frances of Naugatuck and William Massicotte and his wife Angela of Wolcott; her daughter, Ann Nelson and her husband Walter of Naugatuck; her daughter in law, Katherine Massicotte of Naugatuck, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Hedwig DaSilva of Naugatuck and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, Mrs. Massicotte was predeceased by her son, Richard Massicotte, her daughter, Lois Kielb, her brother, John Bekerowski and her sisters, Blanche Dudonis and Jennie Smegelski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 18, 2017at 11:00am at St. Hedwig’s Church, 32 Golden Hill Street, Naugatuck. Everyone attending is asked to please meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery. There are no calling hours and arrangements have been entrusted to the Buckmiller Thurston Mengacci Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Avenue, Naugatuck. In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor Genevieve’s memory may be made to Little Guild of St. Francis Animal Shelter, 285 Sharon Goshen Turnpike, West Cornwall, CT 06796.
