Joseph Greene

Col. Joseph Edward Greene, 89, passed away on February 10, 2017 in Sun City, Arizona. Joseph was born in Siler City, North Carolina on October 28, 1927 to Robert M. Greene and Pauline Curtis. He attended early schools in his beloved Southern home town of Siler City, and received a bachelor's degree from the Citadel Military College in Charleston, South Carolina, in 1949. Joseph later earned a master's degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. in 1970. He spent 31 years in the United States Army, serving in Occupied Japan and receiving multiple combat wounds in Korea. After lengthy recovery, Joe continued his military service with three combat tours in Vietnam as well as assignments in various other parts of the United States and the world. After retiring, Joe enjoyed serving a church mission in Johannesburg, South Africia with his wife. He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Eva Sue Greene, as well as his daughters Fabienne Budd (husband Mike) and Pamella Greene, his brother-in-law Robert Lee Johnson (wife Susan), sister-in-law Vernetta Johnson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, February 18 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sun City Ward, 13014 N. 108th Avenue, Sun City, Arizona 85351, followed by a graveside service at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix, Arizona.
