Franklin Rodney Kuppersmith II - Age 71 native of Mobile, AL resident of Prattville, AL died on February 11, 2020 in Montgomery, AL. Frank is survived by his loving spouse and best friend of 43 years Iona Alexis Kuppersmith and his four children and twelve Grandchildren: Lorri Conrey (Mark) their 3 children Collin, Lexie, Lucy; Carrie Hawkins (Chris) their 5 children Fischer, Harrison, John Kelly, Anna Kate, Ford; Franklin (Christa) their 3 children Claudia, Nicholas, Charlotte; Harrison (Jamie) and their daughter, Olivia; his two sisters, Gretchen McDermott, and Laurie Noojin; nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Laurie Kuppersmith. Frank grew up in Mobile, AL. He graduated from McGill Institute. He was a veteran of the Alabama National Guard. He loved the water and was happiest when he was on adventures with his family. He was a Tug Boat Captain for 25+ years. Midlife he went back to school and became a registered nurse and worked at Mobile Infirmary in the heart cath lab. When his children started their careers he and Alexis traveled while he worked as a traveling nurse and helped their daughters with their newborn children. After Hurricane Ivan they purchased The Caribbean Queen and traveled through Florida and the Eastern Seaboard with Sister their feline companion of 14 years. Frank and Alexis finally settled down in Prattville, AL where he worked at Baptist South in the heart cath lab for 4 years. When he retired, they started on their journey of the Great Loop where they traveled across the Gulf Coast, Florida, up the Eastern Seaboard, into Canada, Mackinaw Island, and back to New Bern NC. They sold the Caribbean Queen ready to start another adventure. Frank held an extra class amateur radio operator license under the call sign KM4AWZ. Frank always put God and others before himself. He adored Alexis, his four children and his twelve grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 14, 2020 in the Sarto Center at St. Pius X Catholic Parish. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Parish with Reverend Stephen Vrazel as celebrant. Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery.
