Barbara Mary (Reed) Scherer of Hillsborough, NJ passed away on February 10th, 2020 at the age of 63. Daughter of William and Joan Reed, Barbara was born June 16th, 1956. As a child, she loved spending summers at the family homestead in Romney, West Virginia. She graduated from Piscataway High School in 1974 as class president. She was also an amazing gymnast and an editor for the school paper Barbara went on to earn a degree in business from Somerset County College. Along the way she worked many jobs including being a DJ, working events for MTV. With her college education she went on to become the transportation supervisor and then assistant business administrator for the Hillsborough School District. Barbara loved the outdoors, gardening, antiquing, the shore (especially summers in Beach Haven, L.B.I. and Point Pleasant) and Volunteering at Triangle Elementary; but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. Barbara was very community oriented and had a strong faith in god. Barbara was a very strong woman who had a long battle with illness. She was beloved wife, mother, sister and friend; may she forever rest in peace. Barbara is survived by her husband, John, her son, Patrick, her sister, Sue, and her brother, Steve, along with many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday, February 14, 2020, at the Hillsborough Funeral Home, 796 US Hwy 206, Hillsborough, NJ 08844. Visiting for relatives and friends will be held from 4 – 7 pm Thursday, February 13, 2020, in the funeral home.
