Philip James Rhodes, age 51, of Fair Oaks, California went home to be with his Savior on Friday, May 5 after suffering a blood clot and subsequent heart attack.
Phil was married to his best friend, Tricia Ervin Rhodes for 10 years and they shared a passion for adoption. God took them all the way to China, on three occasions, to build their family. Phil loved being a dad to Julia, 9; Rion, 8; and Olivia, 6.
Born on February 24, 1966, in Phoenix, Arizona to Nat & Sherry Rhodes, Phil graduated magna cum laude from Arizona State University in 1989. He was the business editor of the Law Review at UC Davis Law School from which he graduated in 1992. Phil practiced law with several law firms before becoming a sole practitioner focused on bankruptcy and estate planning.
Phil was an active member of Bayside Church and loved attending weekly services with his family and being part of a men’s small group and the adoptive family community.
A lover of a wide variety of music from opera to classic rock, Phil was a member of the Sacramento Choral Society from 2004 – 2008.
He had recently joined the Roseville Rotary to connect with other members of his local community.
Phil is survived by his wife and three children; his parents; siblings Brad Rhodes and Julie Gumm; and 5 nieces and 5 nephews.
