Leland Hubert Bond graduated from this life into the arms of Jesus on March 8th, 2017 at the age of 85 in Anaheim, CA. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm on Sat. March 18h, 2017 at the O’Trimble Funeral Home, 329 Main St., Nortonville, KS, with burial to follow in the Nortonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Leland was born on August 23rd, 1931 in Nortonville, Kansas. The son of Leslie Elwin and Rosa Ruth (Stephan) Bond. After graduating from Nortonville High School in Kansas, he joined the United States Airforce where he worked in radio security during the Korean War. In 1951 he married Dorothy June Ridgel. Together they had three children, Richard, Robin and David. They were married for 24 years. After serving in the Airforce, Leland worked as a surveyor for an engineering firm that built what is now the Kansas Turnpike. In 1958 Leland went to work for Bendix Corporation and at the same time he was also serving in the United States Airforce Reserves stationed out of Richards Gebaur Air Reserve Station. In 1964 Leland and his family moved to Orange County California where he went to work for Ungar Industries as a production coordinator/inventory control specialist. He was an active member of the Seventh Day Baptist Churches in Kansas, Missouri and Los Angeles, California. Leland spent many hours volunteering for The Boy Scouts of America as a cub master for pack 161 in Cypress, California during the 60’s and 70’s. Leland was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Forrest and his sister Miriam. Leland is survived by his four siblings; Robert Bond and his wife Javan of Cedar Park, Texas; Melvin Bond and wife Melba of Oak Hills California; Lila Peters of Lawrence, Kansas and Sharon Cunningham and Husband Jeff of Tacoma Washington. Leland is also survived by his three Children Richard Bond of Anaheim, California; Robin Hunsaker and Husband Sam of Lawrence, Kansas, and David Bond of Anaheim California. Leland’s Grandchildren Jeremy Williams of Lawrence, Christopher Williams and Wife Amanda of Liberty, Missouri, Faith Penfold and husband Justin of Caldwell, Idaho, Dawn Monson and husband Cory of Ottawa, Kansas, Joshua Bond of Buena Park, California, Darrell Hunsaker and Wife Sheena of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Lahla Hunsaker of Lawrence Kansas. Leland is also survived by 15 Great-Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Leland’s greatest joys were singing Hymns and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
