Donald 'Curly' Chamberlain Obituary

Donald “Curly” Chamberlain, 83, of Adair, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on January 1, 1933 in Canton, Oklahoma; the son of J.W. and Mattie Ruth (Wheeler) Chamberlain. Curly worked as a heavy equipment operator for E.C. West most of his life. When he wasn’t working, he team roped and worked with his mules and horses. He was a member of the Inola Roundup Club. Curly had a passion for ministering to others; he led a ministry on the CB Radio and a jail ministry. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and camping. Curly’s children and grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life; he looked forward to spending time with them whenever he could. Curly will be forever remembered by those who knew him as a tough, stubborn guy who had a heart of gold. He was always looking out for the “other” guy and would give you the shirt off his back -- if that’s what it took. He was generous with his heart, time and money. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Funeral services will held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in the Pentecostal Church of God in Pryor with Reverend Johnny Walden officiating. Burial will follow in the Benge Cemetery in Strang with Charles DeArmond, Raymond Wilkins, JB Wilkins, Alan Davis, Derek Davis, and Daryl Chamberlain serving as casket bearers. Honorary casket bearers will be Chris DeArmond, James D. Cope, Matthew Pegouskie, Johnny Chamberlain, Jr., James Ramey, David Ramey, Nathan Hibbs, Chris Lewallen, Johnny Moore, Jr., and Charles Moore. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2016 in the Shipman’s Funeral Home Chapel.
