Linda Uhler, a vibrant and gregarious lady, died and went to heaven on February 5, 2020. Her husband, Michael, was at her side as she slipped away. Born on January 29, 1940 in Los Angeles, California to the late Clifford and Frances Smart. She was preceded in death by her two older siblings, Marion and Allyn. Linda grew up in southern California. Following graduation for high school she attended Mt. San Antonio College and Good Samaritan School of Nursing. After giving birth to her two daughters, Mary Kathleen and Wendy Ellen, and son Erik, Linda and Michael began a series of moves in connection with his employment. Their family spent time in Tulsa, Nashville, Kansas City, Reading, Pennsylvania and Cleveland. Linda was active in children’s activities including Girl Scouts, softball, youth baseball, soccer, marching band and theater. She also found time to work as a catering supervisor, coffee expert and word processor. Eventually retiring to Brevard, NC, Linda became active in square dancing and choir. She sang in the choir at St. Timothy United Methodist Church and with the Transylvania Choral Society where she also served a term as president. Survivors include her husband, Michael E. Uhler; daughters, Mary Finn and husband Robert of Franklin, TN and Wendy Holden and husband Daniel of LaVergne, TN; son, Erik Uhler and Kristine Leighton of Parkville, MO; grandsons, Patrick Finn and wife Leslie of Columbia, TN, Bradley Finn of Knob Noster, MO, Judson Holden of LaVergne, TN; great grandson, Walter Finn of Knob Noster; nephew, Barry Smart and wife Susan of Lake Arrowhead, CA. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 1020 Asheville Hwy., Brevard, NC 28712. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests monetary gifts be made to the Transylvania Choral Society designated for the benefit of the Western North Carolina Alzheimer’s Society.
