Obituary of Balfour Lawrence Hancock Forteau, NL February 25, 1936 - February 05, 2020 It is with deep sadness that the family of the late Balfour Hancock of Forteau, NL announce his passing on Wednesday, February 05, 2020 at Curtis Memorial Hospital in St. Anthony, NL, at the age of 83 years. Balfour was a pleasant, gentle man who was loved by many. His smile and sweet presence will be forever missed in Forteau Bay. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brothers: Oswald (Burnette), Winston (Donna), Kevin (Shirley) and sisters: Leah Ireland, Marjorie Hopkins (Richard), eleven nephews and nieces and a large circle of family and friends, with special mention of Rita Davis, Lisa Davis-Ryland, Emma Ryland and Pearl Buckle and all residents of the Labrador Straits Seniors Complex. Balfour was predeceased by his parents, Gerald and Blanche Hancock and his brother, Richard. Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 08, 2020 from 2-4pm, followed by a Family Service at 7pm at Forteau United Church. Funeral Service will take place on Sunday, February 09, 2020 at 2pm at Forteau United Church, officiated by Loretta Hancock. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Balfour’s memory to LSHC Hospital Auxiliary, for the Long Term Care. The family extends thanks to the Staff at Harbour View Manor in Mary’s Harbour, at St. Anthony Hospital and at Labrador South Health Centre and special thanks to Delbert Pike, Loretta Hancock, and Deb Barney during this difficult time.
