Steven Collins

Steven C. Collins, 64, of Clarksburg, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 in Bridgeport at United Hospital Center. He was born on July 26, 1955 in Massillon, OH a son of the late George Clinton Collins and Virginia Lee Carter Collins. He is survived by one son Clayton S. Collins of Fayette County; an aunt Kay Sharp and her husband Brooks Sharp; Aunt Bootsy and Uncle Duane Williams, Uncle Joe and Aunt Irene Carter all of Davisson Run Road; and several nieces and nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sheila Rickey and Marsha L. Pittner; aunts and uncles, David and Jane Carter, Betsy and Bob Heaton, who lived next door to him, and Aunt Shirley and Bill Carter. Mr. Collins was a graduate of WI High School, Class of 1974 and was a Well Tender in the oil and gas industry for 7 years. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing with his friends, Kenny, Dave, Bobby, Hayward and John and also his cousins Clint and Johnny and his brother-in-law Andy Pittner. He also enjoyed making fishing sinkers and collecting coins. He had a sweet-tooth and loved Tootsie Pops and coffee. He loved the Davisson Run community and all of his friends that lived there. He was a fun-loving man and was quite the prankster. He had a special bond with his uncle Brooks who helped care for him after his father died in a tragic accident. Special thanks to the Clarksburg Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care while he battled MS. And a special thank you to his friend Janet who combed his hair every day. He was a member of the Old Time Baptist Church and the family would like to thank Pastor and Mrs. Ludwick who took care of his spiritual needs. He will always be remembered with his special line when you were leaving his company. “Take it easy” he would say. Virginia Avenue, Bridgeport on Monday, February 10, 2020 from 11-1 pm where funeral services will be held at 1 pm with Pastor Leonard Ludwick presiding. Cremation services will follow and then an interment at Boring Cemetery at a later date.
