Beverly Houck Obituary

Beverly M. Houck, 64, of Colchester passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at her home following a brief illness. Born July 1, 1955 in Walton, she was the daughter of the late John and Theda Baxter Lacey. Beverly was more than a sister, she was a best friend and one you could always depend on to make things right. You could always feel her love from across the room with just a look. She held her family together through the hardest of times. Our sister was our best friend and was always there for all of us. Beverly always knew when we needed her and always seemed to be there without being called. She was devoted to her late mother Theda F. Lacey and rarely missed a day to be with her. Others came first, she would worry about herself last. Beverly had a knack for decorating her home inside and out, she made curtains, pillows, quilts, lap robes and anything she felt her home needed. It was never done half-way, it was always done right. Holidays were important to Beverly. At Christmas time she went all out to make it festive. Christmas dinner at her home was always an anticipated event. Beverly always made something special for everyone to take home to remember the day. We will all miss the lazy afternoon coffee gatherings on the front porch. A large space has left our hearts that no other person can fill. She is at peace with Mom and Dad and they will need to add onto the cabin. Rest in peace dear sister, we will love and miss you forever until we meet again. Survivors include her beloved husband of over 40 years, George H. Houck; brothers Wallace Lacey, Warren Lacey and Walter Lacey; sisters Pamela Homovich and Sheila Birch; mother-in-law Jessica Houck; special cousins Huck & Judie Baxter and her longtime feline companion Scruf. Beverly is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents John and Theda Baxter Lacey, brother-in-law Richard Homovich and sister-in-law Linda Lacey Graham. A celebration of Beverly’s life will be held together with her late mother Theda F. Lacey when the flowers are in bloom and the birds are singing in the spring at a day and time to be announced. Memorial donations in Beverly’s memory may be made to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, 46610 NY-10, Delhi, NY 13753. Arrangements have been entrusted to Courtney Funeral Home, Walton.
