Berniece G. Bonnell Obituary

Berniece G. Bonnell, 104 of Mendota passed away Wednesday January 29, 2020 at the Mendota Lutheran Home. Visitation will be February 10, 2020 from 9:30am until service time of 11am in Schwarz Funeral Home. The Rev. David Jungnickel will officiate with burial to follow in Restland Memorial Gardens, Mendota. Berniece was born in Ashton, Illinois to George and Anna (Seebach) Vogeler. She married Homer Bonnell in Ashton on July 11, 1934. Berniece was the ultimate homemaker and farm partner. She was a marvelous cook. Berniece was a prolific crocheter making purses, baby sweaters and booties, and an afghan for nearly all her grandchildren. She belonged to the Green River Saddle Club. Berniece is survived by two sons: Milton (Audrey) Bonnell of La Moille and Larry (Annette) Bonnell of La Moille; three daughters: Darlene Untz of La Moille, Carol (Richard) Vaughan of Ormond Beach, Florida, and Donna (John "Jack") Manning of Mendota; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and 4 step grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband 2/10/94, her parents and 2 sisters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Dennis and Scott Antoine, Bret, Bruce, Derek and Greg Bonnell, Robert Manning, Bruce and Keith Untz. Memorials may be directed to the La Moille Ambulance Service or Community United Methodist Church of La Moille.
