Susan E. Conklin, 91, of Westvale, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Crouse Hospital. Born in Chicago, Illinois on Thursday, November 28, 1918, she was the daughter of Louis Nicholas Brenner and Susan Almira Bachman Brenner. She moved to Oswego in 1931 until later moving to Syracuse. Susan was a graduate of Syracuse University College of Fine Arts. A retired piano and organ teacher and organist for several local churches, she was a member of the CNY Music Teachers' Association. Susan was also a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Societies and Sigma Kappa Social Sorority. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church United. She enjoyed gardening. Susan’s husband, Evan Nelson Conklin, died in 1991. Surviving are her daughter, Sally Siemoens of Syracuse; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Maureen Conklin of Syracuse and John and Sarah Conklin of Lexington, Massachusetts; sister and brother-in-law, Sally and John Lowther of Cocoa Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher (Julia) Conklin, Anne (Robert) Adamsky, Sheryl Siemoens, Sandra (Benjamin) Anton, Scott (Michele) Conklin, Rebecca (Matthew) Uryniak, Gregory (Shannon) Conklin, Lydia Conklin, Michael (Caitlin) Conklin, Mark Conklin and Gillian Conklin; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 26 at Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Terry Rd., Syracuse with Rev. Donna Chapman officiating. Relatives and friends may call Thursday, February 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus. Susan will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
