Mary Louise Fales-Ulmer, 82, passed away Dec 12th, 2015 at her home surrounded by family after a long illness. Mary was born June 10, 1933 in Council Bluffs, IA . She married Rex Ulmer on April 2, 1953. Together, with their children they moved across the United States as a military family. While caring for 6 children at home, Mary also fostered teenagers while her husband was away many months at a time overseas in the Air Force. When her youngest child entered kindergarten, Mary started watching children outside the home. Eventually, the family moved back to Council Bluffs, IA and she ran a daycare out of her home for nearly 25 years. She was a hard worker. She also took in ironing and did some housekeeping for some local hotels for additional income. Besides caring for children, Mary enjoyed cooking , baking and spending time with family and close friends. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, husband, daughter, Roxanne Ferguson and grandson Michael Ferguson. She is survived by her children, Wendy Moler (Ronnie), Rosemary Ulmer, Rita Townsend (Doris), Robin Reisz (Bill), Russ Ulmer, Rhonda Ulmer; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; sister, Carol Grego; and brother, Gordon Fales. A reception in Mary's honor will be held Friday, from 1-3 PM, in the Hoy-Kilnoski community room. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.
