Christy Lynn Rooks

Ms. Christy Lynn Rooks, resident of Wynne, Arkansas, left our lives on Friday, January 10, 2020. Christy was born at Cross County Hospital in Wynne on Friday, November 18, 1977, the daughter of Mr. L.J. Rooks and Mrs. Nellie Mae (Griggs) Rooks. Christy attended Cross County Community School and Arkansas State University, and was of the Christian faith. She worked as a Pre-K teacher at Cross County Elementary School and in the office of the Cross County Special Workshop. Christy enjoyed watching television, traveling, dancing, and listening to music. Christy loved to go to Lucero concerts, and was one of the band’s most loyal fans. Christy had a never wavering love for her children and grandchildren. Christy is survived by her parents, L.J. and Nellie Rooks; two sons, Austin Futrell and wife, Hannah, of Augusta, and Tyler Futrell and girlfriend, Mary Prestipino; two grandchildren, Jasper and Easton; a special friend, Brent Sugg; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020, in the Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Wynne with Brother Mike Tubbs officiating. Interment will follow in Crosslawn Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. to service time. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Michael Bunch, Scott Bunch, Ronnie Drummond, Jason Prentice, Johnny Prentice, and Joey Young. Donations may be made to the Christy Rooks Memorial Fund at any Cross County Bank location.
