On Thursday, January 23, 2020 , Lewis Obadiah Kinzie, peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 92 years in Perkins.

Lewis was a loving husband and father of 3 children.

Lewis was born April 25, 1927 on a farm near Ripley, Oklahoma. He attended Elm Grove School and Perkins Public Schools. He was a valuable asset to the family farm in livestock and harvesting wheat.

On April 2, 1950, he married Wanda Berniece Hill at the home of Leo Bowers in the Northfork Community between Cushing and Yale.

At the age of 19, Lewis started his first job away from the family farm at the Stillwater Ford Garage as an auto mechanic. His last career venture was supervising the Stillwater Boomer Lake Power Plant for 31 years. He retired at the age 59 in 1978. An electrical substation was named in his honor.

Lewis started his deacon mission as God’s servant at Southside Baptist Church and Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater. His Perkins ministry was witnessed at the First Baptist Church and Immanuel Baptist Church. At 77 years of age, Lewis cherished his time as a charter member, founder and builder of the Immanuel Baptist Church.

Lewis’ passion revolved around weekly visits to encourage church members while being in the hospital and to those losing their loved ones. His favorite job at church was being the Sunday morning greeter and usher.

In Lewis’ younger years hunting with family members, and bringing home quail and pheasant was his pastime. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the sport with his Senior Men’s golf group. Lewis was known for shooting his age at 74 which he did 73 more times with his last round at the age of 88. His quick wit and kind, compassionate spirit was enjoyed by all.

Lewis was preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his mother Bessie Kinzie. In addition to his parents, sister Pauline Hansen, Carol Dickey, and niece and nephews Marilyn Lassley, Ricky Kinzie, and Gary Hall.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Kinzie; daughters Regina and her husband Dennis Henry of Perkins, Sandina and her husband CL Stallard of Cleveland; son, Winfrey Kinzie and his wife Patsy of Perkins. Grandchildren, Michael Marlow and his wife Heather, Kirk Kinzie and his wife Jennifer, Cy Stallard and his wife Casey, Chas Stallard and his wife Taylor, and Carley and her husband Casey Buller. Brothers, Raymond Kinzie and his wife Marthell, Charles Kinzie and his wife Darlene; sisters, Patsy Lile and her husband Bill; and several cousins, niece and nephews. Great- Grandchildren Chase Marlow, Parker Marlow, Kaden Hancock, Cole Marlow, Gavin Hancock, Rylan Rodgers, and Jackson Rogers.
