William “Bill” McConnell, 81, of Hopkinsville, KY died Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Tim Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at First Baptist Church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. A native of Princeton, KY he was born February 4, 1938 the son of the late Sam and Eufaula McConnell. He was a principal with the Christian County Public School System having served at various schools, but spending the majority of his time at Christian County Middle School and Pembroke Elementary School. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, taught Sunday School for many years, was a greeter, and a member of the Crisis Ministry Team. He was a member of the Christian County Retired Teachers Association and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association. He was preceded in death by a brother: Jim McConnell. Survivors include his wife: Vicki McConnell; his daughter: Laura McConnell (Mark) Morris of Pembroke; his step daughters: Lisa (Michael) Hodges of Newburgh, IN and Kim (Michael) Bass of Paducah, KY; his brother: Thomas (Carolyn) McConnell of Lexington, KY; and his grandchildren: Carter (Holly) Morris, Ashley (Kyle) Gorman, Meghan Hodges, Will Bass, and Ben Bass.
