Sherry Lee Thigpen Kierbow Obituary

Sherry Lee Thigpen Kierbow, age 63 of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away January 21, 2020, surrounded by her children and loved ones. She was born May 7, 1956 in Carroll County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Lee Thigpen and the late Lunell “Nell” Davis Thigpen. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her younger sister, Martha Thigpen Roddenberry. Sherry is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jade & Steven Loicano; son and daughter-in-law, Maverick & Killian Sawyer; son, Jacob Sawyer; granddaughters, Elise and Sabrina Sawyer; brother and sister-in-law, Michael & Sheron Thigpen; brother and sister-in-law, Barry & Debbie Thigpen; sister and brother-in-law, Alicia & Mark Crawford; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins of varying ages. In life, Sherry was a mother, grandmother, aunt, teacher, friend, and advice-giver to all. She was also an avid reader, a decent cook, a really bad driver at night, a Presidential Merit Scholar, the first woman to graduate from college in her family, and activist for those in need. She wore many hats and filled each with as much love and passion possible. She lives on in her daughter, Jade, who inherited her love of books, her son Maverick, who inherited her empathy and compassion, and her son, Jacob, who inherited everything else, including her rebellious nature and desire to explore. As her children always say, she was, and will continue to be loved “bigger than the sky”. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Matt Crawford officiating with eulogy rendered by Alicia Crawford. Her sons, sons-in-law, and nephews will be seated as honorary pallbearers. Inurnment will follow in Tyus Baptist Church Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.martin-hightower.com. Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel has charge of the arrangements.
