Essie Mae Seltzer Mobile, Alabama Obituary

Essie Mae Seltzer

The life of Sister Essie Mae Seltzer began on December 25, 1934 in Safford Alabama to the late Daniel and Willie Mae McCampbell. She was a lifelong resident of Prichard Alabama. The Lord decided to swing down his chariot and provide rest for the weary on January 14, 2020 at Saads Home Health Service. The Lord dispatched his angels and took our loved one to her eternal resting place. Sister Essie Mae Seltzer was united in holy matrimony to Lee Earnest Seltzer Sr., a union that nurtured the loves of five biological children and a nephew. She accepted Christ at an early age an lived a respectful life in her community. She united with Greater Macedonia Baptist Church over 60 years ago and remained active member until the lord called her home. She was preceded in death by her eldest son Lee Earnest Seltzer Jr, sister Grutrude Downey and cousin Richard Williams. She leaves to cherish a loving husband, deacon Lee Earnest Seltzer Sr. and five loving children: Evelyn Juanita Seltzer, Prichard AL; Shirley Ann Seltzer (Skip) Ragler, Grand Prairie, TX; Norman Lee (Kassmin) Seltzer, Wilmington, DE; Daniel Maurice Seltzer, Prichard AL,; James Edward (Kathy) McCampbell, Hinesville, GA. In addition to her children, she also leaves to cherish six grandchildren, three devoted cousins: Margaret (Ray) Mason; Dorothy Willis and Veola (Baby Sister) Smith and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors. Although our hearts are heavy we obtain peace in the words of the poem He Only Takes The Best God saw she was getting tired And a cure was not to be So he put his arms around her and whispered, “Come with me.” With tear-filed eyes we watched her suffer and fade away. Although we loved her deeply we could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
