Mary Fischer

Mary Regina Fischer was born on Nov 5, 1975, in Marshall to John “Wallace” Fischer and Jane (Canavan) Fischer. She was baptized and confirmed in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and attended Holy Redeemer Grade School. Mary graduated from Marshall Senior High in 1994, and Carlton College in Northfield in 1998. She then made her home in Atlanta GA, while working for CNN as an Editor and Producer. She enjoyed the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, art, museums and traveling. Mary will be remembered for her quick wit and great sense of humor. While already dealing with MS, Mary was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in August 2019. She died on Monday, January 13, 2020, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Her family would like to thank her supportive friends from high school, college and Atlanta. They would also like to thank the wonderful staff at the Avera Transitions and Cancer Center. She is survived by her parents, Wally and Jane Fischer of Marshall, brother Bill (and Bonna) Fischer, their children Zach and Sam, brother John (and Mary), their children Thomas, Issac and Claire, nephew Matt (and Nikki) Fischer, their children Josephine and Brom, nephew William Fischer, sister-in-law Angela, her children Emmett, Thor, Sophia and Cora, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph, and her paternal and maternal grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the Avera Cancer Institute in Marshall.
