Margaret "Margie" Ellen Brant, 80, Rapid City, died Sunday, August 21, 2016, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Serenity Springs Funeral Chapel from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Marlon Leneagh officiating. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father Brian Lane officiating followed by a lunch. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. She was born on March 2, 1936, in Pine Ridge to Frances Richards and Sylvia M. Bergen. Margie attended grade school at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Porcupine, SD. She graduated in 1953, from Holy Rosary Catholic High School in Pine Ridge and went on to earn her RN Degree from St. Johns School of Nursing in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1956. She retired from nursing through IHS at Sioux San Hospital in Rapid City. She married Dennis V. Brant in 1956, and they spent 56 years together before his passing. Their union was blessed with five children: Sandra Harris Brant, Susan (Bob) Brant, Mike Brant, Jeff (Annette) Brant all of Rapid City and Pat (Toni) Brant of CO. Valerie Brant, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews filled her life with love. She was active in the ministries of Cursillo and Eucharistic Ministries at Blessed Sacrament and also active in Canku Wakan "Holy Road" at the Mother Butler Center. Margie and Dennis were well known in the community as philanthropists and were always helping many people and charities. She loved holidays, especially Christmas where you would find her and Dennis dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Clause most of the season visiting parties for family and children of friends as well as the Head Start program in Rapid City. Her love of sewing, crafting, traveling, and holiday baking is what her grandchildren will most remember her for. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; daughter, Sandra; mother, Sylvia; sister, Patty; and brother, Bob. Margie is survived by three sisters, Wilma (Willie) Fielder, Gloria Warren, and Joann Pearson all of Rapid City. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Love INC in Rapid City would be appreciated by the family.
