Arturo “Arty” Barrera III, 24, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away unexpectedly on Jan 2, 2020. Arty was born November 17, 1995 in Galloway, NJ. Arty attended Northfield Elementary Schools and graduated in 2014 from the Egg Harbor Township High School. Arty’s enthusiasm for skate boarding and biking began at a very early age. He is famous for his tricks and dropping in some of the largest ramps in the South Jersey area both on his bicycle and skateboard. He proudly helped improve the BMX track in EHT. He excelled his skateboarding at Patmos Park where he was one of only a few people who was able to drop in the clam shell. His favorite thing in the world was to travel and meet new people that had his passion for riding. Arty lived each day to its fullest. Anything he picked up he excelled at, whether it was snowboarding, skating or biking. He loved racing and working on cars with his friends, a passion that he picked up from his grandfather, Arturo. Once you knew Arty you were touched by his heart of gold. Arty is best described by his friends who have said, “You were the definition of living life.” “We lived as if we’d never die and wished that tomorrow would never come.” Arty is survived by his parents Art and Marlene (Seyler); his brothers, Santana and Tristan; his grandparents, Robert and Patricia Seyler, and Cathie (Garfield) Barrera; aunts Michelle Cabral (Jim) and Elaine Shreiteh (Jamal); uncle Alexander Barrera (Alexa); and many loving cousins. Arty was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arturo Barrera. A celebration of Arty’s life will be held on Thursday, January 9 at 4pm at Fresh Start Church (1049 Ocean Heights Ave, EHT) with services beginning at 5pm.
