Ronald Leon Morris, age 66, of Hermosa, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at Rapid City Regional Hospital. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, at 10:30 AM at Chapel in the Hills in Rapid City. Ron was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 4, 1950, to George Odis and Elsie Marie Heath Morris. He grew up with his brother, Melvin and sister, Narrie in Rock Hill, Missouri. He then graduated from Webster Grove High School. He was married to Nancy Vathauer in 1977, in Columbia, Missouri and to this union, his son, Wesley was born in 1981, in Farmington, Missouri. They later divorced. Ron retired after 25 years from Sturdevant's Pawnee Warehouse, but soon became bored with retirement and went back to work there part-time, then retired again after his illness kept him from continuing to work. In years past, he restored several classic vehicles. He also enjoyed hunting and was proud of the cow elk he got a few years ago. Ron is survived by his long time girlfriend, Veloy Bruce; his son Wesley; sister Narrie brothers; uncle, Marvin Heath; nephews, David and Danny Morris, and Jeff and Steven Brothers, nieces, Tawny Taylor, Angela Brothers, Sara Morris; his close cousin, Ferlin Heath (Sue); many great nephews and great nieces; Veloy's daughter and son-in-law, Angel and Bryan Holmes and their children; and his coworkers. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Elsie; brother Melvin; and many uncles and aunts.
