Janet (Rowe) Smith April 6, 1955 ~ December 30, 2019 Janet (Rowe) Smith, 64, Marion, gained her heavenly wings on December 30, 2019, in her home after a brief illness. Janet was born in Hayti, MO, to Keith and Geneva Churchill. She attended Marion High School and was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a majorette on the high school drill team (Pom Poms). And, oh, could Janet step and toss and twirl that baton! She graduated in 1973 from Bakersfield High School. She then attended the University of California (Berkley) and moved to Sacramento, CA, working for State Franchise Tax Board and Bank of America Banking. She later moved back to Marion, working for Thomson Consumer Electronics. She was an active member of T.V.M.B. Church with Rev. Stanford Bolden. Janet had a love for cooking and her favorite colors were pastel. Easter was her favorite holiday with springtime being her favorite time of the year. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling, shopping, and spending time with grandchildren, close family, and friends. She is survived by her parents, Keith and Geneva Churchill; daughter, Tanisha Wells of Marion; two sons, Demoandre Rollins of Sacramento, CA, and Lydell Wilson of Marion; three brothers, David (Isobel) Churchill, Philip (Janet) Churchill, and Norman (Shonda) Churchill; two sisters, Sandra Churchill and Jacqueline Churchill Butler; six granddaughters, Janessa Rollins, Kalyssa Rollins, Taleia Wells, Arianna Wilson, Zoe Wilson, Kierra Wilson, and John Wells; two grandsons, John Wells and Isiah Rollins; a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends; and special friends, Athena Miller, Brenda Gage, Jolynn Holley, and Wilene Petterson. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at Grant Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 1606 W. 26th St., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Janet's life will be held at 12:00 noon with Rev. Stanford Bolden officiating. Burial will follow at Grant Memorial Park.
