Dorothy was born September 23, 1923 to L.D. and Vera (Faulk) Wood in Kalamazoo. She graduated high school and then took some college courses before taking a position with the State Home in Coldwater as an activity therapist. After 30 plus years, Dorothy retired in 1984. In 1967, she married Irvin “Chud” Barton. He preceded her in death in 1977. Dorothy was a woman of strong faith and a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Coldwater. She was very involved in doing volunteer work, especially with Meals on Wheels and at the Burnside Senior Center. In 1999, Dorothy was awarded with the Book of Golden Deeds by the Coldwater Noon Exchange club for her selfless giving and hours of hard work in Branch County. She also enjoyed spending time quilting, sewing, and doing ceramic work. Dorothy really liked lake living, being able to look out on the water and enjoy a good cup of coffee. Dorothy’s true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grand and great grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Martha (Monte) Petrosoff of Coldwater; her granddaughter Lisa (Dan) Vukmirovich; her step grandchildren Robin (Steve) Guerra, Scott Barton; her grand daughter-in-law Cheryl Blansit; her great grandchildren Naomi Blansit, Anna Vukmirovich, Helen Blansit, Sophia Vukmirovich, Mae Blansit; her step great grandchildren Hanna, Olivia, and Alex, and Gabriel.
