John W. Elmy, Jr.

Mr. John W. Elmy, Jr., 59, of Middle Street, Waynesboro, PA passed away the morning of Monday, December 30, 2019 in his home. Born March 13, 1960 in Covina, CA he was the son of Onda (Miller) Elmy of Georgia and the late John W. Elmy, Sr. He was a graduate of Hale High School, Hale, Michigan with the Class of 1978. Mr. Elmy later went on to obtain an associate’s degree from Hagerstown Community College. Mr. Elmy served in the United States Army during peacetime for over two years. He and his wife of 17 years, Mrs. Deborah K. (Snyder) Elmy were married May 10, 2002 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Elmy was employed as a computer analyst for the federal government working out of Hyattsville, MD and Fort Ritchie, MD. He retired January 31, 2014 after 33 years. He enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casino. Most of all, Mr. Elmy was an avid bowler. He also attended Jacobs Reformed Church, Waynesboro with his wife. In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by four children, Timothy Elmy and his wife Angela, David Meyers and his wife Melinda all of Waynesboro, Gregory Meyers and his wife Stacy of Greencastle, PA and Sarah Elmy still at home; seven granddaughters; one great-grandson; two siblings Kathy Watkins of Michigan and Greg Elmy and his wife Laurie of Maryland; a sister-in-law Cindy of Georgia; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his father he is preceded in death by three siblings, Linda, Gloria and Douglas Elmy and his first wife Patricia D. (Echard) Elmy. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro is handling the arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.bowersoxfuneralhomes.com.
