It is with deep sadness that the family of David Eastburn announce his passing on February 5, 2025 after nearly a four year battle with a rare eye cancer, uveal melanoma.

Dave was the son of the late Robert Eastburn and Ethel Purdy Eastburn.

He grew up in the Indian Head/Bryans Road area and during his high school years was affectionately known as Izzy. After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he did a tour of Vietnam serving as a helicopter crew chief in Saigon.

In his early working career, he was a brick mason but during his life, became a talented carpenter and designer. Dave built many townhomes and did home building renovations in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Later, Dave's vast knowledge of the trades gave him an opportunity to work at the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers Union, serving in the capacity of Manager of Facilities and Services at their educational center in Hollywood, MD. There Dave spearheaded an expansive addition to the union's educational facility which brought him much pride and gratification.

Dave further extended his talents to build his dream home affectionately known as 'Rose Hill' with his wife Cheryl in La Plata, MD. Upon retirement, you could always find Dave somewhere on the property doing what he loved most - gardening and tending to his koi pond.

Dave's love of the ocean and tall ships took him to reside the last year of his life on the Eastern Shore.

Dave loved life, his family, friends and last but not least, his 'puppies'. He leaves his loving wife Cheryl, deeply devoted daughter, Amy Eastburn-Gallo (son-in-law) Tom Gallo, sister and brother-in-law, Debbie and John Brough and lots of extended family.

Dave, you are gone from our sight but never from our hearts. We will forever speak your name and will hold dear all of the wonderful memories each of us made with you. We'll 'keep the dirty side down' until we meet again.
