<p><p>Colonie – Alfred P. Shuman, 83, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday July 5, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. Born in Boston, he is the son of the late Sidney and Marion (Silverstein) Shuman.</p> <p>Al proudly served our country in The United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He served on the U.S.S. Nautilus which was the first nuclear powered submarine in The United States Naval Fleet. He was onboard when they performed their first under ice submersion under the Arctic Circle, a memory he was very proud of. After serving, Al went on to work as an Engineer for G.E. for more than 30 years until his retirement. Al will always be remembered by his family as someone who loved to cook, was a social butterfly, was well traveled and was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.</p> <p>Al is survived by his loving wife, Rose Shuman. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother who was killed in the Vietnam War.</p> <p>Those wishing to remember Al in a special way can make memorial contributions in his name to, Congregation Ohav Shalom, 113 Krumkill Rd.
