Waldemar Ramos

Walderman Wally Lugo Ramos was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico to his Mother the late Pura and his Father the late Catalino on August 30th 1946. His younger Brother Eddell aka “Eggie” and Wally came to the Bronx, NY and began a life filled with childhood antics and hard work.

Wally had many jobs throughout the years from guarding a rooftop school pool in City Island during construction in the 1970s, to being a Foreman with Bronx Frontier where he learned to operate heavy machinery. Always using his passion he took his skills from driving backhoes or trucks and aced the exam for driving buses. He supported the school system ushering the next generation until his retirement.

Known for his larger than life energy, Wally never stopped moving. From using his arms to play handball and paddleball to using his feet to dance. His hands played to the beat of New York, striking those congas in places like Orchard Beach or with the Fania Allstars. His childhood friend Arnold and his son Marcus joke about one of his greatest loves, Salsa and whether or not he danced better than he played. The only thing funnier than Wally were some of the characters he would create.

Usually having a sly word or a smile for you, the party never stopped when Wally was around. He loved love, and people!

Preceded in passing by his daughter Sherinah. He leaves behind his loving wife Herminia “Negra” Lugo, His sons Wallicito (Wally Jr.) and Marcus (spouse Liza). Grandchildren Elijah, Christopher, and Mia. Also leaving behind countless devoted family, such as cousins, in-laws, co-workers, neighbors and friends.
