Norman Elvis Reiber

Norman Elvis Reiber, age 83 of Red Oak, Texas, passed away July 2, 2025. He was born June 28, 1942 in Logansport, Indiana, the youngest of three sons born to Ernest Reiber and Dathel Badders. His early years took his family from Indiana to Corpus Christi, Texas, and eventually to Grand Prairie, Texas, where he grew up and attended school. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart, Glenda Pope, beginning a lifelong love story that spanned nearly seven decades. Following high school, Norman proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he trained in radio and electronics—skills first introduced to him by his father. He completed basic training in Gulfport, Mississippi, and was later stationed for three years at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, where he further honed his telecommunications expertise. After his military service, he married Glenda on May 25, 1968. Together, they built a beautiful life of 57 years and were blessed with two children, Lisa and Clint. Norman’s professional journey included roles with Bell Helicopter and Mobil before settling into a long and successful career with ARCO, from which he retired in the 1990s. He faithfully served at First Baptist Church Red Oak through mission trips, youth activities, Wednesday night meals, the baptistry design and baptisms, building committee, and driving the church van. Never one to sit idle, Norman was a jack of all trades. He was quick to lend a hand, which led him to work occasionally for a local pool company, Clearly Perfect Pools, Inc., owned by family friends. When the opportunity arose for him and Glenda to take ownership, they embraced the challenge and have faithfully served their community through their company for the past 20 years. Norman was widely known as a gentle giant—faithful, kind, and deeply loving. He was calm in spirit, determined in effort, and a visionary in the way he approached life. A man of quiet strength and selfless service, he led by example and shared his wisdom with patience and grace. He cherished time with his family and found joy watching his grandchildren play sports and other activities. Norman loved being outdoors, fishing, hunting, sawmilling, and taking in God’s majestic creation at their lake cabin. He and Glenda shared many road trips across the U.S. in their RV, traveling to favorite destinations like the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone. Their trip to Alaska with family was also one of their favorites. Annual trips to Branson with cousins, and wildflower outings with Glenda, her mother, and sister were beloved traditions. He was a gifted athlete in his early years and a competitor who enjoyed ping-pong, slow-pitch church league baseball, and volleyball. A loyal fan of the Texas Rangers, Norman rarely missed watching a game. Above all, Norman was a man of unwavering faith, deep devotion to his family, and strong personal values. His legacy of love, leadership, and integrity will live on through all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ernest and Dathel Reiber: brothers: William “Bill” Reiber and Ernest Wayne Reiber.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Reiber; daughter, Lisa Clark; son, Clint, and his wife, Kayla Reiber; six grandchildren: Mitchell, and his wife, Michelle Hoffman; Reagan Clark; Luke Reiber; Ainsley Reiber; Katelynn Reiber; and Charlotte Reiber; sister-in-law, Helen Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Visitation will be 10:00 AM Monday, July 7, 2025 at First Red Oak -Red Oak, Texas.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 Am Monday, July 7, 2025 at First Red Oak -Red Oak, Texas

Burial will be 3:00 PM Monday, July 7, 2025 at Greenwood Cemetery -Teague, Texas.

To honor Norman’s life and legacy, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norman can be made to First Red Oak’s mission fund.
