<p>Richard Owen Griffin, age 75 of Hiawassee, Georgia passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Richard was born August 30, 1949 in Carroll County, Georgia to the late Thomas and Clarice (Miles) Griffin. He was a deacon at Mount Hebron church and an ordained minister for many years. He loved serving people, especially his wife and most of all loved spending time with his family. He was a huge Braves fan and loved to garden. He will be deeply missed.</p><p><br></p><p>He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Griffin; daughters, Stephanie (Stanley) Skinner, Meredith (Craig) Garrison; grandchildren, Seth Skinner, Katelyn (Nathan) McMurry, Jacob Skinner, Ethan Skinner (Kaitlyn Crowder), Elijah Skinner, Owen Skinner, Sara (Wiley) Bailey, Luke Garrison; great-grandchildren, Lizzie Skinner, Gable Skinner, Mason Skinner, Ava Skinner, Abrah Bailey, Ila Bailey, Griffin Bailey; brothers, Dennis (Becky) Griffin, Tim Griffin; sisters, Carol (Larry) Lane, Sandy Griffin; brother-in-law, Don (Linda) Hightower; many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 1:45 PM at Martin & Hightower Funeral Home in Carrollton. A committal service celebrating Richard’s life and legacy will follow at 2:00 PM in the chapel, officiated by Mr. Don Hightower and Mr. Wiley Bailey. He will be laid to rest at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>The family finds comfort in knowing that Richard is now at peace and rejoicing in Heaven.
