James Atma Breithaupt

James Atma Breithaupt III, affectionately known as Jim to his friends and family, lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a deep connection to his roots and the land. Born on August 14, 1952, in Corsicana, Texas, Jim embraced the world with a warm and generous spirit. His meaningful life came to a peaceful close on July 3, 2025, in Cheneyboro, Texas, where he passed away due to natural causes.

Jim's life was one of purpose and joy, a testament to the values instilled in him by his late parents, James A. Breithaupt, Jr. (Sonny) and Frances Davidson Breithaupt (Granny). Their legacy of strength and compassion was evident in every aspect of Jim's life. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 54 years, Betty Bennett Breithaupt, and together they built a family that was their pride and joy. His daughters, Karrie Breithaupt Stapp and Mary Breithaupt Southard, along with her husband James Southard, were the light of his life. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Katlin Stapp and Cheney Southard with every fiber of his being. Jim is also survived by his sister-in-law Clara Bennett, numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and loving friends from around the world.

Jim graduated from San Marcos Baptist Academy in San Marcos, Texas, where he met his wife Betty and many lifelong friends. Jim's education at Navarro College, where he earned an Associate's Degree, laid the foundation for a successful career as a rancher and oil producer in Navarro County.

A man of principle, Jim's Christian beliefs guided him through life's challenges and triumphs. Jim's interests reflected a man who valued the simple pleasures in life. He enjoyed being with family, traveling to new places, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and indulging in his love for history.

Those who knew Jim would describe him as handy, intelligent, and resourceful. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, and his ingenuity was a gift he generously shared with others. His intelligent approach to problem-solving was admired by many, and his unwavering determination will bless the generations to come.

As we humbly bid farewell to James Atma Breithaupt III, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man well-loved, and a legacy that will continue to inspire. His memory will be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. Jim's chapter on earth may have ended, but his legacy will live on.
