<p>Waterford – W. Dale Ward, 91, of Waterford passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2025 at home after a long battle with dementia.</p><p><br></p><p>He was born on May 25, 1934, the son of George and Evelyn (Kimball) Ward. Dale grew up in Harrison and attended local schools. He served his country in the U. S. Navy.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale married the love of his life Barbara (Abbott) on December 29, 1954. They settled in Harrison and raised their family. Dale was a longtime truck driver and also drove school bus. In the early 70’s, he and Barbara bought Maxfield’s Garage on Main Street in Harrison making it a thriving village store (The Village Tie Up). They eventually sold it and moved to Waterford. He and Barbara became snowbirds and bought a home in Ft. Meyers, Florida. After a few years they sold it and bought an RV and traveled the country visiting family and friends. Dale was an avid reader and a talented woodworker. Making everything from bird houses to tables, lamps, and beds but his favorite was making cradles for all of his great grandchildren.</p><p><br></p><p>Dale was predeceased by his parents; sister Nancy Scott; brothers Arthur and George E.; grandson Dale T. Ward; great grandson PJ; sons-in-law Richard Pendexter and Steve Kingsbury.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife Barbara; sister Carol (Kermit) Allard; five children Belinda Pendexter, Tim (Sherry), Kevin (Heather), Jeff (Terry), Marcia Kingsbury; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.</p><p><br></p><p>Services will be private.</p><p><br></p><p>The family would like to thank Beacon Hospice and First Light Homecare for their compassionate care of Dale.</p><p><br></p>
