<p>Cindy L. Calderon passed away peacefully in her childhood home on June 30, 2025 at the age of 61, leaving behind a legacy of kindness to be remembered by all. Born on April 11, 1964 in Detroit, Michigan, Cindy was a cherished daughter, partner, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend whose presence will be profoundly missed.</p><p><br></p><p>The daughter of Fran and the late Tony Calderon, Cindy grew up in a nurturing home where she developed her caring nature and love for family. She shared an unbreakable bond with her parents, standing as a pillar of strength and care for her mother in later years. Cindy's devotion to her loved ones extended to her faithful partner, Joe Cote, with whom she shared countless cherished moments and memories.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy graduated from Wayne Memorial High School in 1982, where she formed several lifelong friendships and discovered her passion for the arts. Her drawings, paintings, and other crafts showcased her immeasurable talent and brought joy to friends and customers from around the world.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy worked for nearly 25 years as an office manager at Uht Funeral Home. Her caring presence was felt by the families she served with dignity and compassion. There, she formed several unbreakable friendships with other employees, but most notably with the late Harold Rediske Jr. and his wife Claudia, who provided mentorship and thought of Cindy as family. She was the best bird momma to the aviary birds at the funeral home, and they would often sing solely for her every morning as she was feeding them.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy is survived by brother, Dave (Betty) Calderon; nephew, Nick (Mackenzie) Calderon; cousin, Julie (Reece) Sova; and her uncle, Stan (Betty) Styczynski, along with many other cousins. She is proceeded in death by her aunt, Lucille LaRocque.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy's interests were as diverse as they were passionate. Her love for Michigan sports was evident in her love for the Detroit Red Wings and University of Michigan football. She also found solace in the roar of her beloved '73 Dodge Charger. She was often found in the comfort of her home in her jammies watching one of the several Godzilla movies that she loved. She was a member of a trivia team for many years with friends, both old and new, where she tested her knowledge and shared a drink or two.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy's love for animals was evident in her dedication to caring for strays, and her commitment to charity work with Elle's Place, Vita Redita, Angela Hospice, and the Festival of Trees exemplified her selfless nature. As an active volunteer, Cindy adopted several families each Christmas, ensuring they experienced the joy of the season.</p><p><br></p><p>Cindy's life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. Her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her, yet her spirit will continue to inspire acts of charity and artistic expression. Cindy L. Calderon was truly a loving, thoughtful, and creative soul whose memory will be treasured forever.</p><p><br></p>
