James V. Marchese

(Ret.) Waltham Police Officer James Vincent Marchese  Of Burlington, passed away peacefully Thursday morning June 26th, 2025, at Lahey Clinic Hospital & Medical Center in Burlington at the age of 97. Born on March 23, 1928 in Boston; son of the late Vincent Marchese and Anna (Tobey) Marchese. Jim resided in Waltham for many years before moving to Burlington.  A graduate of Boston Technical High School with the Class of 1945; Jim furthered his education at MassBay Community College receiving a degree in Criminal Justice.  Jim served proudly and honorably with the United States Army during World War II. In 1953 at the age of 25, Jim began an illustrious career with the City of Waltham Police Department as a Reserve Police Officer. He was appointed to the Department as a Police Officer- Patrolman October 18, 1953; retiring January 15, 1986, after 33 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Citizens of Waltham. During his tenure Jim served in the Detective Division for 13 years and was in charge of the Specialized Weapons Unit from 1978 to 1984. Throughout his career he was the recipient of numerous awards and citations. He was a member of the Waltham Police Patrolman's Union and the Massachusetts Coalition of Police (MassCOP).  He devoted his life to his family, community and country; he was kind, helpful, he was an amazing husband. Jim always enjoyed his vacations, if it was with the family to Disney World as members of the Disney Vacation Club or on cruises with his loving wife Kathy to the Caribbean and to Mexico.  He is predeceased by his loving brother Ronald Marhcese and Robert Marchese. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Mary Marchese (McKenna); his devoted children Gary and his wife Janis Marchese, Pamela "Pam" Marchese and Robin Marchese. Additionally he is survived by his loving grandchildren Carolyn, Clint Marchese, Sadie and Seth Moore and his four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Those who wish to pay their respects to Jim and his family can do so in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on WEDNESDAY morning July 2nd prior to the funeral service from 9:00am until 11:00 am. Family and friends are welcome to gather and celebrate Jim's life to remember the love and friendship he shared with so many others in his lifetime at a Funeral Service in the Mary Catherine Chapel of Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody Street, WALTHAM on WEDNESDAY morning July 2nd at 11:00 am. Burial with Waltham Police and United States Air Force Military Honors will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.  In lieu of flowers please consider a donation in Jim's memory to the Alzheimer's Assoc., 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452
