<p><p> Julie Ann Godfrey, 59, of Stephenville, TX, passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, June 21, 2025. She fought with great strength against her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer, but the Lord had better plans and called her home. She was born June 13, 1966 in Eau Claire, WI; daughter of Merlin and Leorra (Steinke) Olufson. Julie was raised on the family farm outside of Mondovi, WI. She would visit her beautiful home town often with her family and enjoyed attending her childhood church Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden.</p> <p>Julie attended elementary school at a two room country school house called Naples in the Mondovi school district. She graduated from Mondovi High School in 1984. She received her Bachelor’s of Animal Science from Tarleton State University.</p> <p>On October 12, 1991 she married Wade Godfrey in Huckabay, TX. They enjoyed 33 years together raising a beautiful family and building their lovely home and property, which Julie referred to as their little slice of heaven.</p> <p>She made her career at Tarleton State University Farm as the main manager of the swine, sheep, and poultry areas. During her years at the farm she helped many of her students conduct their research and thesis projects as well as guide them through the ups and downs of life. She was an excellent teacher, hard worker and passionate animal husbandry advocate. She finished her career as the Tarleton meats lab manager, where again her hard work and dedication left a lasting legacy. Her years of retirement were spent at her most important job of all being an incredible Momo to her grandchildren!</p> <p>Julie enjoyed many things in life. Her grandchildren Jasper, Noa and Cash (the dogchild) brought her much joy as she spent her retirement keeping them. She enjoyed walking with her daughters and sisters. She had perfected her back yard with beautiful flowers and beloved pet chickens for her and the grandchildren to enjoy. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Wade and family. She loved her family deeply, friends dearly, and pets sweetly.</p> <p>She is survived by her husband, Wade; daughters, Baylee (Triston) Hornbeck and their children Jasper and Noa, and Hadlee Godfrey(of Stephenville, TX) ; her sisters, Jennifer (Tom Atwood) Olufson (of Bruce, WI), Victoria (Tony) Stone (of Stephenville, TX), Teresa (John) Accola (of Mondovi, WI); nieces and nephews; Jonathan Olufson, Elizabeth Olufson, Dalton Atwood (Fiance Mackenzie Levin), Ashley (Joshua) Bergman, Erica (Aaron) Helmig, Jack Accola, Jake Accola and many other great nieces, nephews, relativesand friends.</p> <p>She is preceded in death by her parents, Merlin and Leorra (Steinke) Olufson; brother, Jeffrey Olufson.</p> <p>Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church of Norden (S367 Co. Rd. Y Mondovi, WI); visitation will be Friday, July 11, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.</p> <p> </p> </p>
