Erin F. Casey

Erin Frances Casey, age 47, of Westbrook, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, at her home in her sleep. Born on January 30, 1978, in Middletown, Connecticut, Erin was the daughter of Cheryl Lynn Casey and the late Terrence Francis Casey.

Erin was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, granddaughter, cousin, and friend whose radiant presence touched the lives of everyone she met. She was known for her profound creativity and spirituality, she expressed herself through vibrant art, photography, painting, drawing, and poetry, which served as constant outlets for her endless imagination. Music was her sanctuary, and she had an extraordinary ability to connect every moment to a song lyric or poetic line. Erin possessed an empathetic heart and rare gift for making everyone feel comfortable, loved, and included. This gift shone brightly in her work as a nanny, where she cared for each child as if they were her own, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Despite her struggles with addiction, Erin never lost sight of what beauty there was in the duality of the light and the dark in this world.

Besides her mother, Cheryl Casey, Erin is survived by her sister, Colleen Casey Boothroyd, and her husband, Damon, along with their sons, Harlin and Wyatt Boothroyd; her sister, Erin Shea Church, and her family; her brothers, Patrick Shea, Timothy Forant and his family, and George Lightfoot and his family; her aunts and uncle, Tracy Mayo and her husband Stephen Mayo, Carolyn Moore, Susan Hood, and Carol Cafferty; and her cousins, Nikki Hughes and her family, Erik Moore and his family, Tristan Cafferty and his family, and Sean Cafferty and his family. She was predeceased by her father, Terrence Casey; her grandparents, Carol Brouillard and Charles Comstock; her stepfather, Jake Shea; and her uncle, John Cafferty.

Erin’s life embodied the wisdom of Krishnamurti’s words:

“If we live one day and finish with it and begin again another day as if it were something new, fresh, then there is no fear of death. To die each day to all the things that we have acquired, to all knowledge, to all memories, to all the struggles, not to carry them over to the next day—in that there is beauty; even though there is an ending, there is a renewal.”

In lieu of flowers, Erin’s family would like you to consider donating to the Amazing Grace Soup Kitchen, in Middletown, to continue Erin’s desire to help people suffering from homelessness.

P.O. I only spoke to Erin once and it was through Facebook. She was having a hard time and needed to chat with someone and I offered. We talked for hours.
