<p>Joseph Daniel Giglio Sr., 79, of West Haven, unexpectedly passed away on April 10, 2025. He was born in New Haven on January 10, 1946, to his late parents, Philip and Lena Giglio (Guarino). He attended Hill House High School before joining the U.S. Army as a rifleman, receiving both a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. </p><p>Joseph was a dedicated employee at Roebic Laboratories. He enjoyed watching the Yankees and discussing the games with his beloved grandson. Joseph loved fishing, from charter boat trips with his grandsons to helping his granddaughter earn a trophy for “Biggest Perch” in the Girl Scouts. Each summer, he looked forward to giving his daughter and his friend Nancy tomato plants to grow. He would talk about the plants until they bloomed. He was an avid walker and took the opportunity for fresh air over a car ride home whenever offered. Joseph loved his family. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. </p><p>He is survived and will be dearly missed by his two loving children, Dawn Buffone (Sal) of East Haven and Joseph D. Giglio Jr. (Lisa) of Orange. His loving grandchildren Danielle Barbaro (Chris), Matthew and Marissa Giglio, Anthony, Salvatore, and Dominic Buffone, and his beloved great grandchildren Brinley and Jackson Barbaro. His beloved siblings Philip Giglio (Marcia) and Geraldine Mongillo both of Wallingford. He will be missed by lifelong friends Nancy Leverich and Louis Passariello. </p><p>Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16th, 2025, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green, 662 Savin Ave, West Haven, CT 06516. Funeral Home Services will be held April 16, at 12:00 pm, followed by Burial in the family plot at St. Lawrence Cemetery, 280 Derby Ave., West Haven, with full Military Honors.
