<p>Donald R. Corstange, “The Candy Man,” age 94, of Kalamazoo passed away April 2, 2025. He was born on September 13, 1930, in Kalamazoo to the late William and Jenny (Walhout) Corstange.</p><p><br></p><p>Don served during the Korean War from 1950 - 1952. He worked at UpJohn Co. 36 years and has been retired for 36 years. He also worked second jobs to put his children through Christian school. He did many hours of volunteer work throughout his retirement. He volunteered at Wycliffe, 2nd Impressions, ARO and Leisure Time Condominiums. He served as an elder and deacon at Milwood CRC and most recently a member of Heritage CRC.</p><p><br></p><p>Don did many home projects for his children, including helping Doug build his house. He taught his children the value of working hard and serving others. He enjoyed camping and many years at Kline’s Resort on Portage Lake. He always enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.</p><p><br></p><p>Don was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Peter (Fannie) Corstange, Jacob (Bea) Corstange, William (Jennie) Corstange, Dorothy (Jacob) Nord, John (Donna) Corstange, Adrian (Dena) Corstange, Marie (Ted) Crist, Nellie (Gare) VanderMeer, Tressa (Gare) Johnson, Jeanette (Don) Dirkse, and Betty (Andy) Smith. In-laws: Jacob and Nellie Nieuwenhuis, Bill and Eleanore Nieuwenhuis, Jack and Helga Nieuwenhuis.</p><p><br></p><p>He is survived by his wife, of 70 years, Dena (Nieuwenhuis) Corstange; children, Dawn (Cal) Asma, Deb (Harold) Visser, and Doug (Charlotte) Corstange; grandchildren, Andrew (Sarah) Asma, Mark (Tina) Asma, Nathan (Amy) Asma, Daniel (Kari) Visser, Tom (Alexis) Visser, Maria (Nate) Hampton, Sam Visser (fiancé Alliefair), Eden Corstange, Emily (Michael) Aldrich, Erica (Derek) Thompson, and Jordan Corstange (fiancé Gina); 16 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are in-laws Peg and Bob Hoogendoorn, Karen and Fred Reams, Norma and Al Collison.</p><p><br></p><p>Visitation will be Sunday, April 13, 2025, from 4-6:00pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. A funeral service will take place Monday, April 14, 2025, at 12:00pm at Heritage Christian Reformed Church, 2857 S 11th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, where family will greet friends from 11:00am until the start of the service. Don will be laid to rest at Ft.
