<p>Jon R. Stechschulte, 78, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.</p><p>He was born December 8, 1946, in Toledo, OH to Eugene M. and Wilma Jean (Nusbaum) Stechschulte.</p><p>Jon graduated from Roy C. Start High School in 1965. He worked for the railroad as a conductor, starting in 1969, and retiring from CSX Transportation after 40 years of service.</p><p>Jon was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.</p><p>He was a kind and considerate man who, with his beloved wife Sue, shared a love for camping, travel, festivals, and special outings. They spent winters in Florida and vacationed in the Caribbean. And they loved their dogs.</p><p>Jon was an avid golfer and enjoyed his time on the greens. He always sported a beautiful tan to compliment his sunny smile.</p><p>Jon was a loving husband to his beloved wife, Sue, and a loving father to his children, Heidi, Tom, Debbie, and Karen. Jon absolutely adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren.</p><p>Jon is survived by his daughter Heidi (Bryan) Nisch, his son Tom Blair, daughter Debbie Short and daughter Karen (Mark) Jasinski. Five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; his brother Gary (Diann) Stechschulte, his sister Margaret “Peggy” Lee, and brother Greg Stechschulte. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.</p><p>He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Wilma Jean; wife, Sue Stechschulte; first wife, Pamela; brother, James “Jimmy” Stechschulte; and nephew, James “Little Jimmy” Stechschulte Jr.</p><p>A memorial service will be held 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 29 at David R, Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611., with visitation from 9:30-11:30 a.m.</p><p>Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
